My art practice and scholarship explore how the experience of eating changes when technologies are being eaten. My book, Bioart Kitchen: Art, Feminism and Technoscience (IB Tauris, 2016), emerges from my work at the University of California Santa Cruz (Ph.D in the History of Consciousness and MFA in Digital Art and New Media). Performance art, a time-based art form that typically features a live presentation to an audience or to onlookers (as on a street) and draws on such arts as acting, poetry, music, dance, and painting. It is generally an event rather than an artifact, by nature ephemeral, though it is often recorded on video and by means of still photography. Body art was central to the performance art of the 1960s, and the terms are sometimes used interchangeably in this context.
